In consideration to the citizens of Porterville and in deference to local law enforcement, please ride in staggered formation at the posted speed limit while in town.
These rules are all based on common courtesy and respect. Ride safely, look out for one another, don’t hold up those behind you, pass carefully and share the road responsibly. Keep an eye out for your fellow riders. No one should have to honk to let you know they wish to pass. No one should need to pass without first having been waved around. Remember, it’s safer and far more enjoyable to work together as a team.
The weather can change as much as thirty degrees between the valley and the summits. Plan to bring some extra clothing for when it gets hot/cold.
Gas up and check your tires the night before so you’ll be ready to roll in the morning. There is a gas station/mini mart just around the corner from the hotel.
Be sure and carry something with your name, address, emergency contact number and any health conditions (diabetic, etc.), medications, etc.
Many of us who ride together only know one another through motorcycling and may not know much else. Accidents are always a possibility in a sport like ours and it may be vitally important to be able to contact one’s family quickly. Even something as simple as a business card with your personal information highlighted will assist if an emergency arises. It’s helpful to let your riding companions know if you do have any special health needs or allergies in case you are unable to talk to the paramedics.
